  I fell & Guess What???

  i moved on sat...fell & fractured my wrist..... it is in a caste,thank god it is the ,left one.... i am all settles in with the help of my daughter ,sonin law,grandkids.. i was at the hospital for hours....was able to talk to doc,nurse,why.

  they must not shut the door on the jw's as they have been doing.. they were very interesting took my card to give the ones they have.

  been listening to.....so i feel good came out of bad....

  i know the poster lost generation made a fantastic thread on this july 15th apostate article, however - i noticed some very powerful points on pg.

  17 paragraphs 9 - 11 which weren't brought out that i feel needed to be touched on.

  as was brought out in his thread this article told jw's to avoid apostates because they are " mentally diseased " allegedly and to avoid their web sites, not read their literature, watch t.v.

  How might one convince a Jehovah's Witness to read "Crisis of Conscience?"

  i'm well into the book, can't put it down, it is just so fascinating and so utterly devastating to the credibility of the wtbts.

  i suspect that any jehovah's witness who has a modicum of self respect and intelligence could not but finish the book a step or more on the path to emancipation from this awful, people destroying religion.. i really want my wife to read this book but i anticipate that she will refuse on the basis of it having been banned by the society as the worst kind of apostate literature.

  i am genuinely saddened that she will not grant me the same kind of trust and respect she gives so lovingly to her watchtower masters and i will doubtless say this to her when she turns down my invitation.

  I would approach it from the angle that the WBTS are not unique in warning their members about "apostate literature". Show her something like this:

  Ask her what the mormons would have to gain from taking the same stance. Then throw in the illustration of the used car salesmen who forbids you to speak to any of his former customers independently and only allows you to get feedback from a list of customers sanctioned by him. Would you buy a car from this person?

  Do the Harold Campings of the world make witnesses question their own beliefs?

  now that harold camping has been proven wrong again, er, the rapture is taking place at another date because he is an imperfect man, one question that comes to my mind is whether this kind of fiascos ever make active jehovah's witness connect the dots and realize they have been deceived as well.. also, i wonder if active witnesses ever get to think that if unbelievers were right about not believing camping, maybe they are also right about something else?

  perhaps relying on reason is not that misguided after all?.

  i would love to see your opinions on this.. .

  ...i was told but they usually were as i look back.. as a lad i'd sit and look to see who the lights would fall on.

  i'd get an almond and see how long i could suck it before i chewed at it.

  i'd imagine playing rock'n'roll on the congregation's piano.. how did you get through the meetings when you were bored?.

  The Great NORM

  i was moved to go back in the archives and read some of the posts from the great "norm" who used to post here up until about 4 years ago.. norman hovlund comes originally from norway i believe, so he occasionally writes as he speaks english, but his writing is wonderful in his posts.. he also set up a web site: http://home.c2i.net/norman/index.htm which looks as though it hasn't been updated recently, but read his letters to the gb, hilarious, and he maintains they actually got to read them !

  Only 3 chapters on 'self destructive behaviour'? Self harm is a big problem amongst teenagers and yet no mention as a self destructive behaviour.

  Waking Up From a 34 Year Slumber.

  july 11, 2011 will be 34 years since i was baptised as one of jw's.

  the sleeping pill i took was in the form of them providing the information that made the bible come alive with the truth and insisting that they go by the bible not adding or taking away from it.

  i had negative experiences from local brothers from time to time, however i excused them as part of being imperfect.
